So I just figured out about net carbs. FS calculates all the carbs, but then they will tell you the fiber and the net carbs. So, counting the net carbs instead of all carbs means that calories that are not burned are included in the calculation of total calories for a day. Ultimately I would like to hit 25 to 30 g of fiber so that means I could add about 100 extra calories per day. So, that is cool.
Not sure what is going on - my weight is steady but my pants are loose. Maybe whoosh for weigh in tomorrow will happen. Except I am eating cheese now because I had nuts for dinner which did not fill me up.

That's great to hear that your pants are getting looser!! Good feeling. Thank you for your post, I needed a good reason to eat watermelon. I had a lot of fiber today, 47.5 grams!

I try to get 25 to 30g of fibre a day too, Abbadabba. Well done on the looser clothing - it will show on the scales soon 🙂

It's really hard to get 25 grams of fiber in a day. I tried to awhile. In order to do it without going too high on calories I ate lots of raspberries. I think a baked potato had about 5 grams of fiber, maybe in the skin. Hope you can get the fiber you are looking for.

Not sure 🤔 I understand? If you are counting ecc, effective carb count, aka net carbs, then you don’t want those to be over 20. Which is 50 total carbs. Buuuut, you need them from greens and high fiber nutrients like sunflower hulks, carbquik type flour that has all the germ and less wheat, buckwheat (its a seed). The goal is to keep your blood sugar (glucose) under 80 so your insulin doesn’t come a-calling. Insulin causes fat pack. In its absence, and in turn the absence of carbs, your body burns ketones, which are converted by liver. Protein is also converted to glucose and some people (me) need less ECC as it also metabolizes into glucose. It is not likely to lose fat thinking ECC carbs ‘free’ weightless fiber. Let me know if it works for you, so I can cheer you on.

I might also offer a tip. Metamucil sugar free has 5g fiber for 25 calories, great orange flavor and lasts years in the cupboard.

I have to eat a minimum of 25 gms of fiber a day for my diverticulitis. I have Alive liquid fiber to use if I cannot get enough from my foods but most days I manage without it. Avocados and apples are high in fiber and the Kashi Go Lean cereals are also high if you can eat cereal on your diet.

I have emailed FatSecret several times but they don't seem to care about this inaccuracy. I just try to stay below 20NC and calories near my target.

Thank you for the comments all! I am doing a modified high-ish fat diet. I allow myself to eat anything, as it seems to be the best way for me to feel like I can control how I feel about how well I am doing in the dieting journey part of my life.
