New stress level achieved. First my boss tells me yesterday morning that I will have to use PTO for my Physical Therapy sessions, since it's "not fair" for me to be leaving early all the time. If I don't like it I should find another job. 3rd time she's said those words to me in the office, since I've been back.

Excuse me!?!? I'm telling you that I'm doubling up my 2 NEW Physical therapy sessions onto one day, so I will only have to leave early 1 time a week, and I still will be leaving after I've put in 6 hours, (only 5 required by HR) in order NOT to have to use PTO. It's not fair? It's not fair to whom? I'm here, obviously in pain, doing my job, and you're still giving me grief, because I've been leaving 1x a week for Physical Therapy. Deep Breath.

Hours later, I'm sitting in my compression leggings on my "lunch break", HR comes into my office to let me know that starting Friday, YES TOMORROW, I will be transitioned from salary to hourly as only "management" should be salary under the restructuring the company is doing. SERIOUSLY! I'm no longer management? Good to know. So very excited to be this stressed out in addition to all my pain.

Since my boss told me to find another job, I reached out to the Recruiter that ghosted me, and a couple more last night. One called this morning and we've scheduled a phone interview. Another is scheduled with a different Recruiter next week.

Send me some positive energy folks, please. I gotta hang in here for now, but I am truly hoping to find something that will get me out of this hell. I realize that with all things there's going to be a price, but I'm hoping this one can happen without costing me too much.

hang in there, and I do hope you consulted with an employment attorney. keep documenting. management positions are not arbitrary in most states. they either are, or they're not.

It’s hard to imagine any good productivity, working under these conditions. No matter what you do. Sending positive vibes your way.

They cannot legally do that if you can get your doctor to sign off on FMLA (Family medical leave of absence) which works for you too. I had it once just so that I could have frequent doctors appointments and have that time off for work. Your work cannot legally require the PTO (as far as I have heard) if you have that.

call your HR department and have them give you an FMLA form so you can have your doctor sign it

and look up info on google about FMLA so you are informed

Hope that helps. Sorry you're going through this.

Also, check what this status change would entail regarding your benefits, including healthcare and PTO. So much for HR being on the employee's side, at least in this company.

I would love to knock em out on your behalf. I'm sorry those rat bstrds are treating you so poorly! I've seen this happen for generations, especiallyin right to work states. If they bring in a fresh out to replace you and have nerve to ask you to train them, don't! It's company greed to replace higher earners/seniority staff. I do believe a better opportunity is coming to you 💯 🙏. Never let em see you sweat!

As salary were you regularly be required to work more than 40 per week? If work load requires more than 40hrs now that will be X1.5 per hr. Thank you very much 😜 $$

THey cannot universally demote you like that, and rob you of your seniority and potential benefits or pay. You need to go back to HR and ask them where in your terms of employment contract, can they unilaterally demote you without cause?? Make it clear that your lawyer wants to know this, and you need a copy of it to give to them. Wait and watch them squirm, this bully tactics on their party.

Iam sorry this is happening to you. Documentation is everything. Log every conversation, type it out. If you have a printer & email everything to your personal email account. Bcc everything to yourself. Be careful. Do not lose your temper. Hang on and let them make more mistakes. Print all the email conversations between you and anyone on this topic. Print all salary, insurance benefit info. Bring all documentation home daily. Don't leave anything. Private companies have the right to anyone walk off the premises and watch you pack only personal stuff. You will not get a chance to bring any paper. As a hourly employee they do not have to give you enough hours. Ask for documentation where the company is being restructured. Document the date of conversation, name of person, title. Erq1 is right you may have a discrimination claim here. But your need documentation. Get your dr. to document your disabilities and need for PT. Write down when they started harassing you due to illness. They are harassing you hoping you will quit and go to another job. I have seen this many times. HR is never on the employee side. They do the job that being laid out for them. Even unions, strong union benefits waiver under management & financial matters. Never show your hand, do not let tem ruffle you. Do not write or say anything inflammatory.

I dont know if you are in a position or have a dr who can qualify you for disability at this point because you are in so much pain. Whatever happens do not let them stress you out anymore. Take care of your health.

We can’t control others but we can make positive changes in our lives. Similar to the changes we are making here. From my perspective the experience that you are going through could be a blessing in disguise. Just hang in there and keep chugging along!!!

I’ll be praying you get out of there. Those people don’t deserve someone that sacrifices so much to work in agony. I hope someone replaces you that is so slack that they’ll be begging you to pay you double to come back. 😁😁

Learn this line “can you please put that in writing”. You have an implied contract with pay and treatment patterns of the past. For your part do a written summary of the understand you were hired with and things that have changed and ask for a written summary of there requirements/expectations going forward. Don’t assume they know how you have been rearranging hours and why. Spell it out. Employment stress is one of the worst as it weaves in so many parts of your life. Leave emotions at home and do what will be best for you. Sorry you are juggling so much. The future will get better.
