I keep records because for so long I haven’t been able to lose weight on any of the eating plans I have experimented with. I was planning on going to the doctor with my records and asking him for help. But I started Keto in November and I’m actually losing weight & blood sugar is dropping. The records make it easy to see the big picture, so to speak. I have never kept such comprehensive records in the past. It’s really helping me.

Second, get away from packaged meats like Hillshire Farms sausage. Instead, go for fresh chicken, ground beef (80%), fish, and shellfish and use spices and even butter melted on top to flavor them, and cook them ahead. Hard-boiled eggs are good for quick meals. ...

Finally, that packaged "avocado mash" is really CHEATING you out of the fat and fiber of whole, fresh avocado. I eat one a day (usually about 3-4 oz. after paring and pitting) and buy four a week, in two trips. They're relatively small, Hass variety, two-to-a-mesh bag, for only $1.79 at the supermarket. If they're still a bit hard, you can monitor the ripening at home; don't buy them soft or keep them in the refrigerator. Buying more than two at a time, I find that they spoil. I eat them plain or add sugar-free salsas or a tablespoon of Nutzo, and chop them into salads.

Eating more fresh foods all around, you'll be able to increase the volume and nutritional value of your food, and make it easier to plan according to your macros. Oh! And add some berries (frozen are fine!) with chopped pecans and real whipped cream for dessert! You'll think you died and went to heaven!
