Ah, the pennies are working great. I don't have to remember what I ate, or find a pencil. I might use a skip-the-weigh-in card tomorrow too, at my weight watchers meeting, so I don't get discouraged and I keep to the Scale Strike.

I filled in my food chart last night, and it turns out I am overestimating my calories, but since I thought I went over, I actually only hit my regular allowance and 1000 calories even, which is cool! Today was so hot I didn't finish everything either, so only ate half a yogurt mostly and no bread on the chicken sandwich. Spent the day picking at food! And drinking water, and sweating!

Really annoying thing happened last week and continues to annoy me: I bought some high fiber treats to mix together like gorp. I got chocolate almonds, sunflower seeds, pecans, raisins and craisins. I couldn't wait to mix them and brng them to work for snacks. Well - the sunflower seeds turned out to be IN THE SHELLS! The box says: Eat, Spit, and be Happy! No, I don't think so. Thought I could get over it, and mixed them in anyway. I can't get over it. There is no way for me to look good as the site inspector spitting all over the construction site.

Then, the almonds are not good-tasting. The coating seems to be like unsweetened cocoa, not a chocolately good flavor. I tried one this morning while I was hungry and I wasn't disgusted, so maybe I can get through eating these without too much trouble, but man, was I disappointed!

And finally: I separated the bowl of stuff into sandwich bags, 6 altogether. Turns out, one serving is about 3 tablespoons of snack. Unless I completely messed up my counting, there are 5 servings in one measly bag of snacks! These are 150 calories each or 3 points.

At least I know this stuff is good for me, not like the half blueberry donut I had last week for 150 calories!

Good for you making your own 100 calorie packs - especially with the "trail mix". Its suposed to be something thats good for you, but the crap they have pre-made in the stores is just that - crap, because they put so much salt and sugar in it. Making it yourself you can control what goes in it. I like your enthuasim about the pennies - your back on the wagon! Hope everything else is going well. Remember, I'm always here for ya!

What a let-down when you go to all that trouble to create your own healthy snacks and they disappoint. That disappointment has happened to me a few times this summer at restaurants as I got my taste buds all fired up for something tasty and HEALTHY - only to discover it was yucky! Food is too expensive to have that happen. Keep experimenting. The good food experiences will outnumber the bad ones!

I love that the pennies are working for you!! Who would have ever thought!! Smart woman!! The snack/food thing can be hit and miss as we try to figure out what works for us. You are doing great!! But now I have this mental picture of you spitting sunflower seeds at random!! Yikes!!!

No, madaboutmoose, I am NOT spitting out the seeds! I am picking the fruit and nuts out around them - that must burn a couple of calories a day! I actually have pet birds who love sunflower seeds, and they have been eating them instead.
