I don't normally post at night, but tonight I saw magic. It's a white barn owl and it was in my tree. I've been hearing it lately when I'm walking at night, but I haven't seen it until tonight. So beautiful and I watched it for about ten minutes before it flew away.

So cool. We have great horned owls in the woods near us and they talk to each other at night. I love it.

That is so cool!! We use to have them in our barns where my cattle are. Sone giant bird moves in a few years ago, left, and the owls haven’t returned. :(

I see regular barn owls and spotted owls. I don't know if it was an illusion, but this one seemed to be almost white. which is probably the only reason I spotted it up so high in the tree. the cooler thing is that I'm in the midst of making some serious decisions and I'm hoping this is a sign that I'm on the right path. I've lived here over 15 years and I have never seen an owl in that tree. only over by the park and in the canyons. it was truly special to me.

that's awesome!! my daughter was really sad the other night saying she'd never seen an owl. idk where that came from but now I must find one for her. I've seen bald eagles around here but owls seem to be more elusive. lots of red tail hawks too.

you should build an owl box together. doesn't have to be a real one, but it would be a fun weekend project. she can learn all about them on allaboutbirds.org and they even have the different sounds there.
