I had a fantastic day yesterday, cleaned, swam, and went to a neighborhood gathering out in the street. Cake was gone at the end, so good enough. Swim was pretty good, 840 strokes, 10.5 METs, average heart rate 158, all good. I've got some catching up to do before I am back to where I was. Freezing when it was time to get out. Wind sucks. Good swim with only one moment of hesitation to purge water from the snorkel that I couldn't blow out without stopping. Love, love, love swimming in the cold, hate getting out in the cold. My one swimming friend here is trying to get me to turn off the heat and commit to cold water swimming. Nope. Not interested. If I want that, I'll just drive to the beach and jump in there. At the party, I didn't realize that I was "famous" around the neighborhood because of the dogs. That cracks me up. I thought we were being all stealth walking after dark and keeping it chill. Nope. One guy came over and told me he was "honored" to meet me because I walk with wolves while he cowers with his min-Pin. Of course there was alcohol, and we all had a good time and I know new people. All good. I missed people. Not enough to go shopping or a concert, but I will gather in the street and talk. Happily. We are going to do a happy hour before the end of the year. Biggest deck wins the hosting award for that one. Not me, luckily (or not). In the random tips and tricks category, spraying a mix of vodka and water w/essential oil in your hair will remove campfire smoke if you happened to sit/stand downwind too long. One of the more important things I learned in college. Ha. Some more neighborhood lights. We're going to do some side streets the last couple days of the season. There's some good stuff out there, but it's more sporadic. I do think it's funny that my little part of the hood is more festive than the fancy houses by the park. Hi Kat, merry Christmas 🎄🎁. Great story and wonderful photos. lol the smoke in hair kills me every time. I force mutinying the shower immediately after. I made my husband make a smokeless fire pit. It didn’t work. But love outdoors and fire pits 🍾🎄🎄🎄🎄

The house with the snowman in front is built on a canyon and has three balconies. They decorate more in the back of the house than the front and it's so beautiful from across the street. I don't have a good pic of it though, I just enjoy seeing it on my way home.

Erq, we're going to the Hotel Del on Wednesday night, I think. It's always spectacular, but they just did a huge rennovation and it's supposed to be even more amazing.

It sounds like a great time!!! Glad your cake was a hit!!! We actually got snow last night, so no block parties for us. ☃️ That's so funny about the wolves! I enjoy seeing your pics of them. I had never heard of spraying your hair with vodka/water. Does your hair smell like vodka then?

That sounds like such a great time, Kat! With your neighbours and new friends! Hope you have a great time on Wednesday and whenever your happy hour is - I'm not sure if that is the Wednesday occasion. Sounds like fun either way! The vodka/water/essential oil trick sounds really good - wonder if I'll ever have a need for that again - and whether I'll actually have the makings of it is another thing, but still fun to know! Vodka has almost no smell once it evaporates. You can also use it to clean windows. I had just washed my hair after my swim and stuff in the smoke. Washing it is no easy feat these days, so I didn’t want to have to take another shower and dry it which would have kept me up well past midnight. Learned the trick from when we’d go clubbing and stunk like cigarettes when we got home.
