So where do I begin today?

Griping about last nights Dial-A-Ride getting to my job an hour late in a mini-van, which I can't climb up into, so I had to hoist myself in on the floor, and then drag myself up into the seat. ARGH!!!

This morning I was picked up by the bus. Exciting because I had time to feed the monsters, complete my morning routine, and lay back down for 15 minutes, before I got the call that they were 10 minutes away. AWESOME!

Still a rough ride for my pain racked body, but I was here early again. YAY! Got here the same time as my boss, so she can't complain about my being late. Talking with her about last nights debacle and comparing my 3 D-A-R experiences so far, I realize that she takes everything I say as an automatic negative, rather than just a factual commentary. Not sure if I have the energy to even try to change her perspective.

Meanwhile in all my spare time this morning, I tried to use the Smart Scale, only to find it's "LO" again! Good Grief. I just bought a pack of NEW batteries and will see how long this next change out lasts.

I know, I know, just rambling away today. Not really focused, as I was super tired last night, but unable to go to bed. Sat at the table, kinda watching TV, until 2 a.m. when I caught myself before falling out of the chair. Finally forcing myself to get up and lay down, but this is happening on a semi regular basis these past few weeks. So many thoughts running thru my head, so many things I need to do, want to do, and ultimately will have to do.

Where do I find my joy these days, besides the monsters, of course?

My job - nope

Company Paid for Food - not really. I haven't been excited by most of the things I've eaten, since being back in the office.

Travel - HAHAHA - can barely stand the pain of riding in a vehicle the 13 miles from home to work, so not likely to be doing that anytime soon.

Movies - Not yet. I've managed to sit thru 2 this summer. Both were challenges, and if I hadn't been in the wheelchair, with someone else driving, an adult beverage & popcorn, probably wouldn't have made it thru.

Need some suggestions folks, cuz I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy, just lots of grey!

It does sound challenging! Get your sleep, nothing gets better if you're not sleeping.

Music? Meditation? I'm no help, but I wish I could be. I'm so sorry for your troubles Jeanie. (((HUGS)))

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a minute meditation app on my phone that I've been ignoring lately. Need to get back in the habit. I was so good about using it while I was working from home. Music gets me from point a to point b when I have to drive. Learned that from my Mom.

How about… writing? I love the rhythm in your writing

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I really hope it changes soon. When I was in my darkest places (and when I just feel absolutely helpless) I journal. I’ll write all the negative things and how I’m feeling, but then I’ll come to my “human senses” where I don’t really feel those ways I’m just frustrated. I’ll try to figure out why I am struggling and then write two or three “solutions” even if it’s as simple as taking three deep breathes. I’ve never been good at meditation l, but I do love yoga as well and just creating a mantra and saying to yourself when you need it can help. When I first got started mine was “I am growing” and when I would have a bad day and reflect on it I would just remind myself of that, I am growing and that’s ok. I hope better days are ahead of you!

I’m so glad you have a job! What are you taking as a sleep remedy? It definitely sounds as if you have some mental anxiety issues and I’m surprised that whoever you’re seeing to manage that hasn’t prescribed something to you. It’s not your fault where you are but you have to take responsibility to make it better. Not just make it.

I am sorry to hear that your health is a struggle. I have no other advice more than to say I hope you can find something that helps you relax and at least mentally get away from every day life. I find talking with friends about plans for trips or activities is a good distraction, even if we can't travel yet for whatever reason.

Happiness is hard pressed to find some days. I see it unexpectedly, if the sun is shining. On a dark stormy rainy day, I think to myself nice, I don't have to water the plants. I treat myself to a pick me up. I like aromatherapy, lavender, body shampoo extra long shower. Water bill be #$$&^* ; ) Find time to make fresh coffee from beans. Another fav, is jasmine tea. Make a list of your favorite things. When I'm not feeling well. I take deep breaths and remind myself, I'm still breathing. There's a new song I'm obsessed with. the lyric goes like this... When it gets hard, I get a little stronger now, I get a little braver now. When it dark , I get a little brighter now, I get a little wiser now... It's not dance music, it's just beautiful to me. You can find google. maybe you'll like it. As we get older, we get lots of aches, pain, baggage. To me it means we've lived. I know, sometimes I just go on... Anyway, cheers. Hope you have a brighter day🌈

Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time! Perhaps you could get some prescription sleeping pills? You might feel better if you were able to get a good night's sleep. Have you thought of taking up hobbies? Knitting, quilting, etc? I hope that you have a better day today!

Try L Theanine. It's a safe amino acid that really helps with stress and anxiety. You can take it in the day and it doesn't make you dopey or drowsy. You still have your full wits but can really ease the stress. Even though it's not a sleep aid, it can help stop the mind chatter which might be keeping you up at night. With all the stresses these days, we sell a lot of it at the health store that I work at.
