This fit person of two years ago is not me anymore. I am now the busy person in the first picture my daughter took as we were shopping the other day. It just seems symbolic. I love so many things about how my life is right now, but I am really, really unhappy with how my body has softened and my muscles and general fitness has dropped off. During covid, when I had little to do but work out and focus on my health, I used what I had at home and the road outside and the hills all around to get into the best shape since having a pile of kids. I am using these pictures as a hopeful motivation to get myself to focus more on what makes me feel good physically. I know how to be strong and fit. I haven't let myself go totally, but at the doctor's office a couple days ago I was into the 160s. I was fully dressed and it was late in the day.  I honestly don't have to be as fit as I was. I don't have the time to walk 40 miles a week. My knee won't allow me to run five miles or even one right now. But, I can do better. I can still do those workouts at home even if they are not as long or strenuous.  I want to be stronger and fitter and not just focused constantly on work and my family.  So, once again I commit... I commit to weighing in and recording everything. Yep, after the holidays is an easier time to start. I will still eat special food, but I am going to try so hard to make better choices to nourish my body and help it to feel better. I am not going to record my weight here right now. It will just drop down a bunch and not be "real."  I will give it some days and record after the food and water weight has stabilized.  But, I am working on it now.  I don't know how I will fit things in. Right now I am going to try to work out twice this week and record every bite. At least that is something! One day at a time!

Don’t be too hard on yourself “life gets in the way” sometimes- there’s many a lady who’d settle for that grocery pic 😉

You are not alone. So many here achieve some excellent results, but are living their lives in diet and workout mode. For most, it just is not sustainable in reality. Our bodies have no forgiveness—

melissatwa, you and I are in the same boat paddling in the same direction. I also was more fit in October 2022 and now I have Soft Suburban Dad Syndrome. Eating more protein, portions, and CONSISTENT exercise is what I need. Yes, Log EVERYTHING and put your weight on FS for all to see are powerful motivators. Our bodies will remember how to use to be. I'll get back to where I want to be. Get On The Horse and Let's Ride.

And really fitness is a lifestyle change. Once you stop it will go away. I set aside 1hr a day into fitness and really that is all you need. As for the knees, leg extensions and deep squats has really tighten up my knees good. Hope you find your way back! Good luck!

You are beautiful inside an out, no matter how many poppin muscles! 💪 sounds like you have a great plan to feel your best. On the journey with you!

Because of muscle memory, I personally believe that it is possible to return to the original muscle mass in a relatively short period of time, rather than having to increase muscle mass from no exercise routine at all. Once built up, beautiful muscles will naturally deteriorate in anyone who loses the habit of exercise, but once the exercise habit returns, the beautiful muscles will return.💪

I think you look pretty good in that first picture! I know you used to go on really long walks and then did all the work outs. Life just happens and do what you can only you can set your priorities. Hoping the New Year gets you to where you want to be.

I agree you still look great in the first pic but also understand the longing of the earlier you.

Of course, I think you look amazing, but it's your health goals that matter. I know you will find that balance and reach your goals. You are one of the strongest woman I know! 💖

Muscle memory is real and it comes back quick. I still think you look amazing and you’re really doing what matters: enjoying life. 😘

I love this entry because it is authentic and real - we all backslide at times in life, don't we? The important prt is that you are aware and never give up the desire to be more fit. I have a photo of a smaller me on my refrigerator to remind me of my caloric intake daily. Add a little protein perhaps, drink a little more water perhaps and move a little perhaps - you will be well!

Hey! Happy New Year! You are doing great things and whatever you chose to do for your health is the perfect choice! It is tough to be as focused as we were in 2020 and our bodies are going to deteriorate as time wears on us. I’m hoping to hold it all together as I cross the half century mark in 2 weeks. Just keep being your best and never give up. What that looks like is totally your call.

I think you look so freakin cute in your top pic and your goals are attainable and you can do it. Be glad that you didn't let yourself go completely. I'm a fat fucking butterball and the amount of work I have to put in is daunting. You still look fabulous! Little changes here and there will add up. All your time at work is less time to eat. LOL.
