Yesterday my Wife threw a baby shower for my Daughter at her house. I stayed busy trying to support them. We also have guest staying at our house. Eating has been mostly on the run the last couple of days but the baby shower was a huge success. Yesterday was also an unplanned low carb day. I ate "Poorly" at 112% of goal, far exceeded my protein goal and met all activity goals without trying. BF down 0.4%...

Bill I use a Multi-Frequency BIA scale and I agree with you. Often I question it's accuracy. I also use calipers and they can also give very subjective results. I do try to weigh myself and collect data under the same conditions, as much I possibly can daily. I consider these methods at best a very general gauge...

Does anyone know how and what effect does water content have on Multi-Frequency BIA scales?

@ Bill, I had a Tanita scale that I loved but it only displayed my BMI and weight. My newest scale is Bluetooth and exports data into my Fitbit account. I have noticed a trend in regard to water weight and it's effect on my results. It seems that my muscle mass and water weight move together, either up or down. Body fat generally moves slower but up or down with my weight. The most dramatic shifts are on and the days after resistance training...

@John I don't have firsthand experience with the bioimpedance scales, but my understanding is that they are extremely sensitive to hydration. That dude Tim Ferris did an experiment where he weighed in, guzzled a couple litres of water, weighed in again, and thereby produced vastly different body fat readings minutes apart.

Thanks Rosio and Jimmiepop!!!
@ Jimmiepop, I don't question Tim Ferris results. It's the reason that I strive to weigh in under the same conditions daily. Sunday is the one day a week that I have less control over my weigh in conditions and have to come to expect a slight difference in results...
