So, I have been thinking and lo and behold it occurs to me that many things are related in life. Duh. Over the past 7 years, as my marriage has deteriorated, my house has also deteriorated and my weight has climbed. In 2003, I was 135 pounds. As my husband withdrew, I got less exercise and ate less healthy things. Up to 170 pounds. 5 pounds a year is not a lot really, but if you keep doing that it adds up!

I was hungry but not for food. Can it get any simpler than that?

I am grateful for my health, my intelligence, my sense of humor. For the care and kindness of my BFF. For the friendship of many others. For my family: my children, my parents and siblings, for my cousins (first, second and times removed!). For the senses of humor that my friends have.

I am grateful that I am still curious.

Long weekend coming up: May all your decisions be healthy ones!

Love it! I'm a big believer in maintaining a gratitude list. When I'm neck deep in daily trench warfare, it is refreshing to rise above it all and think about the "big picture" and all I have to be grateful for. I agree everything in life is connected. This is the main reason I focused on my health this year. I did a life inventory on January 1st of this year, and while past inventories always had health as an issue, it occurred to me that the other major areas of my life suffer due to my health and that all areas would be enhanced if I was in good health. Keep up the great work!

You sound good Abba and hopeful. That is wondeful to recognize and be grateful for what we have. I hope you have a wonderful day today!

Hi abba! And, if we can begin to turn things around, the interrelatedness of it all should begin to work in our favor. Losing weight and getting healthy may seem difficult to most of us, but it may in fact be the easiest first step that we can make to get it all working the way we would like again. As we follow through with body and mind we *may* find ouselves in a more contented, happier place than ever before. It's a dream which, if believed in passionately enough, may very well become reality no?

It sounds like you're making such big steps with self-understanding. I think there is SUCH a relationship between house clutter and body clutter. (There is this self-helpy but very practical "system" of getting rid of clutter, made up by this woman who calls herself the FlyLady. It's great. She has loads of very practical good ideas for how to teach yourself routines and keep things under control in your house. She talks a lot about body clutter going along with house clutter.) So glad to hear you're still curious. Love that.

Sounds like you have been able to lift yourself up and that is truly something you can be grateful for. Like Beets said, getting rid of mind clutter is wonderful and I do believe you are "on your way".

I believe that many of us try to fill voids in our lives with food. Feeding the hungry heart is a phrase I heard some time ago. It is wonderful you have had this realization and I am happy for you. Love your gratitude list! :)
