I can't believe I have no more control than this. I had another bad week with a whole new set of woes, but that's no excuse. Most of the issues are my fault, but when they're happening, it doesn't feel that way. It feels like situations are being imposed on me. Am I just getting old and tetchy? Lord, I hope not. I need to take control. I'm thinking of trying the 5 day fast for a few months and see if that helps clear my mind. According to Drs Roisen and Oz, the studies being done on it have had very positive health results. It's just a different take on intermittent fasting and is already taking hold in England. Everyone have a great week. I'm going to try to do the same. Maybe getting my vitamin D back to normal will help. I sure hope so!

Oh my yes! The vitamin D will help once you get it back.

Sounds interesting. Let me know how it goes. Yesterday I was thinking I need a better reminder to take my vitamin D. Then I didn't even take it. My doctor would not be happy. We can work on this together. Best wishes for a good week.

Somedays, all you can do is manage it moment to moment. Please don't beat yourself up; you are working on getting healthy. (((((hugs))))) and prayers for a good day.

Fasting is supposed to be a great way to correct issues with the digestion and mental health, too. I read about a guy who was really obese and he fasted for one whole year. No kidding. He had enough fat on him to keep him fed.

Thanks, all. Sandy, this one recommends 1,000 calories per day, all plant based, for 5 days in a row. The rest of the month you eat normally. That doesn't mean over eat! LOL! It's supposed to work really well on stomach fat/omentum fat and brain fog.

My suggestion after trying different things and not sticking to it or losing and re-gaining more. Find a WOE you can live with forever, not a "diet". Nutrient dense and limits junk food and fast food.

I agree with Wholefoodnut. No more diets. Just find a food lifestyle that you can be on the rest of your life. These diets often result in weight gain when we get off the diet . Gaining and losing the same 10 pounds over a lifetime is worse than just allowing the body to stay at its set point. My 2 cents. All the best!

Well, I have to agree only because I know I couldn't live off just plants for 5 days in a row. ... me? I need my meat and eggs. I can go without dairy. Good luck with this. If it's something you think you can live with, then for it.

5.5 years ago, my Dr, basically, told me to go home and get my affairs in order. I went home, had THE talk with my oldest son, dumped all the processed foods, simple sugars and baked goods of any kind. My freezer is full of home cooked, single servings of various soups and stews, most of them bean based, along with veggies and fruit. I usually serve my soups or stews over home cooked, brown rice to combine with the beans. I occasionally make a loaf of gluten free, complex carb bread . . . very occasionally. I eat whole grain, cooked cereals with a tsp of olive oil, along with an egg, most days for breakfast. I am eating in a sustainable way. The foods I make are delicious. There is no junk food in my house. Before someone jumps in and mentions that my diet is high carb, low protien, yes, I know. I have borderline kidney failure and my last blood work shows I've been eating too much protien. Lately, I've been getting lazy. I've been having a chicken thigh most nights with several servings of veggies and brown rice. I have to stop that. So, what's the true issue here? I no longer have the self discipline to stay under 1400 calories so I'm no longer losing weight. On top of that, the stresses of the last year have me craving things I shouldn't have. They make me sick. I don't have ANY of them in the house. BUT I DO HAVE A CAR! :-(

Johanne. You are dealing with a lot, beating yourself up is hard on you. Look at how far you have come, rejoice in that. If you are eating beans and whole grains the tracker here as all are does not count complementary proteins. The combinations of food in reality push that protein value up much higher. As you know I eat much the same way as you also with forays into animal proteins. My carbs are also high but like you they are healthy carbs.

Thanks. I've been cooking for the last four days to restock my freezer, so I have no valid excuse to take the shortcuts I have been lately. Now I just have to convince myself that's really what I want to eat and quit letting every little upset send me running to McDonald's or Taco John's. I'm setting off all my old inflammations and allergies which makes it harder to deal with EVERYTHING. My new challenge starts today. I'm going to try to get back into the correct mindset.
