Apple crisp for two

HGemmac thank you🍎 You are young, have fun! You are a nomad like me. Don’t let the solitude consume you, eat something sweet from time to time.

Mr G😂 thank you for supporting my poor Murf. The child is so lost… he is afraid of success and wouldn’t come to the onederland. Let’s lure him with a good mouthful of my famous blackberry cobbler. Good luck with food logging, I have been bad about it too. Thank you for the reminder.

Wikipedia: Giorgio Vasari (30 July 1511 – 27 June 1574) was an Italian painter, architect, engineer, writer, and historian, best known for his Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects, considered the ideological foundation of art-historical writing, and the basis for biographies of several Renaissance artists, including Leonardo da Vinci. Vasari designed the Tomb of Michelangelo in the Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence that was completed in 1578. Based on Vasari's text in print about Giotto's new manner of painting as a rinascita (rebirth), author Jules Michelet in his Histoire de France (1835) suggested adoption of Vasari's concept, using the term Renaissance (rebirth, in French) to distinguish the cultural change. The term was adopted thereafter in historiography and still is in use today. Very moody photo with a Matsys-like anamorphic reflection on the spoon (The Money Lender), I like it.

@yfritz...I laughed out loud about the Rolodex! 🤣 It must be the decades of homeschooling, working with deaf & special needs students and a late spouse I entertained through his dementia with visual aids & reminders. These kind of things somehow take me back to the years of usefulness I once felt 💙

Eral my best friend💕 this Vasari paperback was the very first book I purchased when I came to US. I didn’t speak English. So there is some sentimental value to it and I’m enormously happy that you acknowledged my book, along with the Matsys reference😭 You are a beautiful human being. My current obsession is the art books by Elie Faure. Have you read it? I found them on eBay. Jean Luc Godard cites Faure’s observation on Velasquez’s treatment of lights in his “Pierrot le fou.” It’s beautiful.

CrystalJo that’s the beauty of this journey, isn’t it? It’s more than about weight and workout. Just like you, I reconnected with what mattered to me too. I loved your Rolodex post very much. It was so you. Thank you for sharing that.

Absolutamente, artsy AND unique...one-of-a-kind creative; purely adventurous, truly empathetic soul for sure🤙

Never read Faure's books, my knowledge of arts is unfortunately very philistine. With the recent passing of Belmondo I wanted to re-watch "Pierrot le Fou", but could not find it. There is such a vast amount of movies and musics that cannot be accessed because of some stupid copyrights, it's very frustrating. I diverge...

The first book I bought arriving here was East of Eden because it's local, still a favorite.

Eral I’m heartbroken. I’d like to discuss Steinbeck with you but I am now too sad to do so. Steinbeck makes me want to eat beans btw. Maybe I should add that to my grocery list.
