I believe it! For years when I used to eat it I would get really bad stomach pains, so I finally just quit. My husband gets really sick from their lettuce.

Was that a surprise— the nutritional data is out there on all this stuff for enquiring minds. That’s not to say that you can’t have a 6 in. Sub once in a while or split one with a friend, but you at least KNOW going in. I like TOGO’s if I Am going to eat a sub

I’m confused. All their breads seems to be around 3-6g sugar. One regular slice of bread is often around 1-3g of sugar per slice. Is it 3-6g of sugar per sub were a worried about or am I missing something? Is the iris bread different?

It's the %, I believe. Ireland allows 2% sugar to flour, theirs is 10% from the article I read.

I would just note that restaurants - particularly fast food - have different recipes for different countries to conform to what they think are that populations preferences. So sugar content might vary between there and here in the U.S. Just something to check. I don't eat Subway because the bread has always upset my stomach for some reason although I hear they removed a lot of the preservatives since I last had subway 10 years ago.

I had a Subway a few months ago— it was the closest food place to the hospital where my sister has spent some time as a patient recently. It tasted really good but my brain went—-SUGAR!!!

I have never cared for Subway, but, if it doesn't make you sick etc...moderation is the key as Kenna said...

If you want a real shocker, and did not already know or realize, get this—I made a small batch of pomegranate jelly a couple of days ago. The recipe called for 2.5 cups of juice and 3.5 cups of sugar. But it sure is good. Again, moderation and portion control. Also mixed with olive oil and vinegar for a wonderful salad dressing or glaze.

my longest relationship was with a guy from Belgium and his step daughter came to visit and she said American bread was "so sweet"....Our food is FULL of sugar compared to other countries. Our bread is NOT healthy/normal compared to other countries!

Typically, sugar is a required element for bread making because it is sugar that feeds the yeast and kick starts the activity.. we are just so accustomed to added sweetness to everything just like we are basically addicted to salt.
