Sharing just in case anybody has been through this before or feeling the same...just feeling thoughtful today...

It's gotten to the point where everybody and their mother stops me to ask about my weight loss...every. single. day.

They call me the incredible shrinking woman at work...and they keep saying I'm going to disappear...and when they say that I kinda get sad actually 'cause I think...am I disappearing? Am I just going blend in now? Disappear into the crowd? I know that's silly but it's oh so real for me. Will I be just average? Boring?

This isn't just about weight loss for me...it's about redefining myself and rediscovering myself.

I feel an extreme mixture of pride of my accomplishment and a soft undertone of mourning the loss of "me"

You'll only disappear if you allow yourself to. just remember it isn't the outside, but the inside that makes you who you are. if you disappear to someone because of your journey, they don't deserve you and they will be replaced by someone who sees you for you.

Those around you, even if they support you, are having to adjust their perception of you now. You are in a new category, not simply a smaller body but someone who knows how to do it and has the determination required to do it. Give them (and yourself) a little while to adjust. Everything’s fine; you’re doing great!

I believe the use of disappear is used more as a positive. You are the one taking this weight loss journey to improve your overall health and appearance. Just a simple thanks to those who notice and move on with your day. Your true essence will remain vibrant!

You can't be afraid to have the old fat you shrink and disappear. There is a slim more radiant you wanting to get out. Let her. You'll love her. Let the old shrink and disappear. It's a true compliment. Let the new shine.

I get many comments now too and it embarrasses me because I still personally feel huge. Ya I’m less huge but I feel like I still don’t deserve comments. BUT sometimes it’s nice because we all work so hard to lose and need to be reminded the work is paying off.

Take all of these comments for what they really are, admiration for the control you have over your body. Powerful stuff.

Hmmm, I think the opposite. Average these days are overweight or obese people. Getting into shape is not average. Noone sees me and says average. You'll stand out, not blend in. I guess that could be a bad thing depending on who you are, but I certainly prefer it. The last thing I want is to be average.

You will only be average and boring if you chose to be. Are you average and and boring now? I don’t think so. Now you will expand your wings and allow yourself to try all sorts of new things that you have not done before. You may be that “instigator of troubles”, that everyone will say— OMG, what is she up to now. THAT GIRL is waiting for YOU. get it done. find out who you are now.

I get the same thing. Worst part is that as soon as I tell them it was from fasting most say "Oh that's not healthy!" I then stare at them and wait for their logical brain to catch up to their fear reflex at such a radical concept...

redefine yourself means just that. you change what you want, including your weight, and don't worry about the rest. your only average or boring if that's what you want to be - don't get in a rut and do things out of habit, surprise everyone. find peace and everything else will work itself out. don't stress yourself about it but know your redefining yourself to be successful and your weight loss is proof of that.

Here’s the thing. You are at a point where your criticism went from “she’s not thin” to “she’s actually accomplishing something and I’m jealous “. No one feels happy all day everyday or we would never grow we would become complacent. You define who you are and maybe it’s not you disappearing into thin air. It’s they disappeared from your agenda. My guess you will start to shine in an environment filled with common interests. Keep up the good work. Keep your mind muscle strong and you will be amazing

Just think, you r losing lots of potential bad things...it's called disease! Be happy about all of those good things that r happening to u and such a good role model! When I got breast cancer and had to undergo an operation and radiology I didn't feel sorry for myself and never missed work. A few years later my boss had an operation and said...I saw how u were back then and admired it she held her head up throughout. U never know who u r going to touch in your life. Be happy and live a healthy life....u will always stick out in the crowd.

I agree with rosio and diablo. I’ve always been the average person. Well sorry not anymore. I’m breaking out of that “I’m just a far person” crap and working towards something great. I get the you’re wasting away crap at work also. I have other ladies who act like bitches because I’m losing weight also. Gotta ignore the haters and keep on being great! You’re def not average and you’re def not going to “disappear”!!
